I checked the threads available and don't see this subject. For those that attended the Super Site Nationals this year......Listerine will NOT get the bad taste out! What a sham!! My club spent approx $25,000 of un-budgeted money to be told where to stay, to have the players there Monday, for a credentials meeting, only to be told 2 days before we left ( bus already booked ) they didn't need to be there. Forms being changed and updated right up until the last day ( for no apparent reason ) and being told we needed to book a minimum for 15 rooms, at a tidy $89.00 plus per night for ( hoping you made it all the way ) 6 nights.
Now for the good stuff the public saw.... They booked the rinks knowing that an International sled tourney was going on ( Man I am proud of what those guys can do !!!) so the prime rink had no seats in the bench and figure skating awards podiums for the coaches to stand on. The players were greeted with folding chairs. The brainpower putting the Junior "A" "B" and "C" venues together had game times changed throughout the tourney ( without an attempt to contact team officials ) and the rink staff were the crudest I have ever dealt with. Trying to get a locker room open was like trying to pull teeth. The poor Junior "C" teams had to open up at 7:40 AM....ya AM...all week long. Hey...when was the last time you saw scouts sharp and alert at 7:40 AM!!!
You couldn't get a question answered by a USA Hockey delegate...all you got " talk to your league commissioner". When was the last time you saw them at 7:40 AM!!! :-)
Anyway...for someone that rode it out...it was a farce! This is where and how the funds channeled to USA Hockey are spent? That and USA Hockey meetings where the results are known before someone even seconds a motion.
I suggest, in the least, going back to separate venues for the "A" Championships and the "B" Championships and the "C" Championships, so at least they can have a little dignity!!
The kids came to a startling conclusion....."Hey Coach...is this the Nationals you have been telling us about all year??? What happened???"
