With the NAHL trade deadline just passed, I have a quick question:
Team A in the NAHL trades a player to a team in a different league. The player decides to not go to the 2nd team, but instead goes home. If the player decides to return to the NAHL, does team A retain his rights?

Player is the property of the team who he was traded to in the other league. Now, next year the player could change leagues if he wishes and go back to the NAHL.

Would team A retain his rights in the NAHL the following year?

No, he would be a free agent in that league at that point.
