www.lijhl.com/league.php?scriptName=HOME&leagueID=15061in addition to the one just posted on his blog... edit: There are some threads about this league showing up on the cleveland.com high school forum. Apparently, the guy behind the Cleveland entity is the same one behind the Wooster team in the AEHL...

Why do folks think we're seeing these new leagues?
Is there some untapped gold mine out there that I'm not seeing?
That many gung-ho parents who can afford to ensure little johnny has a "junior" team to play on?
Very confusing....

If you have a son and he makes it to Juniors, you'll come to understand why people are always looking for alternatives.

If you have a son and he makes it to Juniors, you'll come to understand why people are always looking for alternatives. I do have a son who hopes to play juniors next year, so I do understand...BUT, there has to be some reality thrown in there somewhere, no? I mean, this LIJHL is looking to go into areas already saturated with USHL, NAHL, CSHL, EJHL, Empire teams, so why the need for another? I mean, if your player can't catch on in one of those existing leagues, the handwriting should be on the wall that's its not meant to be. I could kinda see if it was in an area somewhat devoid of junior leagues/teams. but it's not. IMHO, just another outfit trying separate players/parents from their money under the guise of providing them the hope of playing juniors...

LIJHL - this is a waite and see. Saw the comments on cleveland.com. nice to have an alternative but too much baggage from the guy running it. He was in the AE before and was either blocked or just asked to leave. Keeps on resurfacing with the same old scam.

Thinking back to tryouts last year.....I felt like my son was on the Junior A cattle herd.......tryouts are big money grabs for the team. Thinking of how many spots available on a team can be minimal. So I can understand why there is another new junior hockey league--is it the right thing to do? I'm not sure, yes, you are giving kids a chance who didn't make a team a chance at being part of a team. Any time I hear of a new team or league it makes me skeptical if the team will last the year. When choosing a team, weather it be an established team or not.... do your homework...ask questions, look around and see what the conditions look like....small towns have many eyes and ears and it doesn't hurt to ask around 'hey, have you ever heard of the blah blah hockey team? Can you tell me anything about the kids? If you are ready to send your kid off to play hockey, don't do it blindly. Costs are high, you are never guaranteed that you'll play and trades are NOT unheard of. I would say that's my 2 cents, but with inflation, I'll give you my nickels worth...

I know here in Topeka we have several that are either going on to college or aging out and moving on. We also have several that USHL teams are looking at to move up to that level. So we don't really know for sure how many "openings" we have until the Draft Picks are made and Tender Signings come through. I'm sure most NAHL teams are in this position too. The try out camps are an important tool in finding players to come in to fill the roster spots that do come open. We have a lot of players come into camp because you really can't judge a players abilities until he is playing against players of equal or higher abilities. If the players is good enough and mature enough he can make an NAHL Roster.
