From Marc's blog: "Last night's Texas Tornado game drew an announced crowd of just 950. Would someone please explain the benefit to the USHL for adding a team outside their footprint that draws as much as the Chicago Steel when they're playing poorly?"
OK, what do you know that I don't. I know the USHL wants to expand. I know Texas wants in - and has for years - and has been rejected. Is there anything different now?

Not really... just that I've been hearing another round of the same old rumors and wanted to shut it down with a little logic.
I've since talked to some USHL folks that really shut it down. There is currently no interest (read: application) from the Tornado.
Personally, if I were king of the USHL I'd be against it. That team is facing a major threat shortly from the CHL team that is going in 12 miles away in Allen. Numbers are down anyway due to a lack of on-ice success, and I could easily see attendance halved when the CHL arrives. On top of that, I'd think the Tornado would need a travel partner. Since the most likely candidate isn't drawing particularly well (Wichita Falls), it just makes the whole scenario that much more far-fetched.
But it's funny the heads I turned with this over the weekend. I had some NAHL teams thinking I was saying the Tornado were fixing to defect. I guess I should have made it more clear, but it turned into a fun exercise even if all I was saying was "yes we have no bananas."

Again, as I said in te Wausau thread, there are no "travel partners." If the USHL wanted to allow the Tornado into the league, it would not be dependant on another Texas-based team coming in.
