I thought I'd try a new direction with blog comments. Instead of using the comments function of the blog, I'd use a forum format. I think that for topics where there is more discussion, the expanded tools of the format (such as being able to quote) will improve the discourse.
For the time being I am not going to divide the forum into topic subgroups, but will keep everything under the main heading. If the weight of a particular subgroup becomes significant, then I'll spin it off to it's own area.
As always, folks are expected to behave themselves.

Marc Makes sense - although is there a concern about the lack of posters due to no anonymous feature? Probably not a concern but wtf, figured I'd ask I like the look - and I also like the concept - just wonder if this won't quelch those anonymous comments that do contain nuggets of info - maybe a work around is to allow more usernames per email or IP (or however the # of usernames is limited)? Your pal, blend p.s. somethign will have to be done about this BLOG FORUM NOOB business - COME ON!

It's still fairly anonymous. After all, who is "blend" anyway? If someone still wants to send me a hot tip that's completely anonymous, there's always the anonymous email via willselfdestruct.com, or set up their forum login with a hotmail, yahoo, or gmail account. It takes is 25 posts to advance... Subsequent rankings "promotions" are currently set at 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 posts, but I'm still playing with the taxonomy. Consider it an encouragement to post... Marc

Okay... it now takes much less to advance, and the taxonomy has been overhauled...

Marc,
Great Idea having a message board, I think this will encourage discussions about hockey at all levels and more than just how great johnny played last night, but what also happens off the ice and the inner workings of leagues/teams.

Message board works fine for those of us in West Texas who hopefully will be joining the NAHL ranks shortly. Thanx, Marc!!

Marc,
This is a wonderful idea and will hold people accountable for posting here on your site. I have always wondered why you didn't do this before with the two favorite teams that have made your site so popular! lol
Anyway, thanks and hopefully all kinds of people visit your site. Including referees like me.

Thanks for the comments and support, gang.
I may have fixed the rankings taxonomy too well. It's turned on, but for some reason no one's ranking is showing. FYI, it starts out Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, and you should be able to figure out most of the rest of it, though I got sort of creative at 75 posts.

Thanks Marc, I think this will promote better discussion of the issues raised. Thanks for all you do, it's been a great aid to me & my son in sorting all this world of Jr hockey out.

Good job Marc. Thanks. It is nice to have a venue for topics I am not able to present and the ability to allow people more latitude to express themselves! Hope this works well. If John Meissner becomes a member, he will certainly appreciate the spell checker! LOL D

Hey Marc Foster, I forgot to mention in my first post but last Friday I had a nice chat with Pat Maroon in London. He is currently down with a foot injury.
He was not aware of the NAHL site so I showed him where it was. He can follow his old league online now. he is doing great this year in London adjusting to the game speed ok now.
To other fans on here, it's very hard to track players down there in the junior league so maybe I can find some help here. We have draft picks playing in the US but difficult to find info.
Does anyone have a good site that tracks players in theat 16-18 range that are rising up.
And finally Kevin Bodker was sent back does anyone know how his progress is coming.
Thanks in advance
Simon in London

Anyone in a league that's using Pointstreak should be easy enough to pick out. With HS and midgets you're pretty well stuck tracking by individual team, unless you go with one of the paid services.

Maroon had big game last night but the real show was Tavares and MacLean who are sic. But London on the back of Mason still won. Look for more trade rumours soon Marc I have more names coming up now. Should be around 3 huge deals going down soon.

Thanks in advance Simon in London Simon-- Greetings from Topeka. Kev's doing well and working his way in. Skates with authority and is a presence on the ice. A real asset in that we got into blue line injuries a little early. Looking forward to your posts-- all of my ancestors who came over on the boat settled in and around London. Haven't been back in years, but hope to get back up that way soon.

Kitchner is not hte only cold arena. The Brahmas fans at Nytex (Blue Line) are complaining. Last night, it was 34 degrees in the main arena. Of course, we went from 85 degrees to snow in two days here in Dallas!
