Re: Dropping Out « Result #1 on Sept 9, 2009, 10:16pm »
i guess ill start with my predictions for mmu18 teir 1 aaa nationals: for the midam bracket I have the aaa bluejackets winning. They look pretty solid and have a defensemen who played in the opjhl last year and another who played for toledo in the cshl which isnt great but this kids an exception to the traditional CSHL crowd.Plus they have most of the returning 93s who went to nationals last year including that burton kid who got drafted by plymouth. Pittsburg may give them a run but i just dont see them winning it. For the Michigan district its honeybaked. Ceasers has a bunch of trenton highschool kids and they tied pittsburg so i dont think they'll be continuing their stretch of dominance. Victory has a couple of good kids like ryan kelly and lelweyan but i dont think they'll be able to win it. And belle tire looks solid. They have a few forwards including a kid named Pontasch who has a full ride to dartmouth. Its either them or Honeybaked. Compuware has only two forwards i recognize, dangle and powers, but besides that nothing too special. For the southeast district i havent got a clue and quite honestly i really doesnt matter cause team maryland went and they went 0-3 so usually the southeast teams dont even make it to sunday. for the newengland district im going with mid farfield team. they usually make it and have a lot of kids returning from last years team. And the massachusetts district will be the jr bruins again because they are alway a dominating team. For the rocky mountain district i would have to say either the colorado thunderbirds or the stars again. For the new york district i know the regals are not going this year cause they lost alot of kids and if they do go, its because they got lucky. And obiviously the host team will be there. For the winner although its way to easy to predict, i would say either Honeybaked or the jr bruins. Of course once things get under way, im sure Ill have someone new in december. So far so good?
Re: NAHL vs. MJHL(Manitoba Jr.) « Result #3 on Aug 11, 2009, 11:30pm »
i hope to god the MJHL stands for MANITOBA JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE and not the METROPOLITAN JR HOCKEY LEAGUE lol. The manitoba league skill wise is a tad better than the nahl. but scouting is by far in the favor of the nahl. Its just too d**n cold up there in them darn moutains! hahaha
First they are pricing themselves out of business. To buy a franchise they are asking $50k to 70k....for that league??? Teams that have been in for the long haul got in for next to nothing.....the wallowing franchises will have a hard time recouping anything at that price....not an attractive business venture for someone wanting into a Junior "A" league!!
Let me guess, the UJHL is much better eh?
HAHAHAHAHA . i would bet money the ujhl could probably kill teams like motor city and grand rapids. When i played in that league when i was 15 it was nothing but a bunch of 20 year olds who drank smoked weed and lived off daddys and mommys money. the cshl is terrible but not as bad as the ijhl. At least ushl scouts come to the quad city showcase in december in the cshl.
understand this right now. independent leagues are huge risks. Stay away from the IJHL, GMHL and other independent leagues. There was 0 scouting at the gmhl the kids hated the league and in the case of the oro medonte team, they didn't even have a locker room to get dressed in because the rink wanted nothing to do with them. Every player i know that has played in the IJHL says to stay the hell away and join other leagues. Hell the met south is better than that league. The gmhl is the laughing stock of canada. Yes they did become a legit league but that was only because they treated themselves as the minority and they were seen by parliment as the black slave boy getting the nuts kicked out of him by the big rich white man called hockey canada. There were teams in the gojhl jr c in canada who killed the innisfil lakers the second best team in that league. As far as the ujhl goes, for only having four kids go to ncaa CLUB programs thats not very heartwarming. I had a friend in the gmhl who called up Michigan State Coach Rick Comley and once he metioned the gmhl, Rick hung up the phone and never answered it again! So, like I said, its a much better idea to stay in a league THAT IS WELL KNOWN BY OLD TIME HOCKEY COACHES. I could give a nuts if its sanctioned by hockey canada or usa hockey, It must be a leauge that coaches look at because of its reputation and because of its longevity.
